Complete control lockdown, XYZ Lathe
Today we looked at an XYZ lathe with Siemens 828D control. We were called to assist a customer who, after making an edit to one of his programmes and trying to run it in simulation, suffered a complete control lockout.
This was a strange issue that we certainly hadn't seen before.
The MPF programme in question would not delete from the HMI and caused all the soft keys to lock if trying to open, edit, or delete.
We had to remote into the HMI using the X127 port and the field PG and delete the corrupt file, which resolved the issue.
As with all of our visits, a complete system backup was carried out, including the NC, PLC, HMI, drives, and CF card (.tgz image), copied onto a memory stick, and left with the customer. The machine is now back in production, another happy customer!
