Overhaul of a 12 year old XYZ 1060HS VMC
A small job that turned into a complete overhaul! This 12 year old XYZ 1060HS VMC had ground to a halt with multiple x-axis drive alarms. We initially lent our customer a LT module and regulator card to fit themselves, as this was believed to be a source of faults. After fitting, our customer requested we attend the site, as although the new hardware had made a difference, there were still issues with the machine.
On attending site, we found the X-axis servo motor to have failed, all windings were down to ground, the power cable was also showing excessively low resistance and needed changing. We also found that the X-axis ballscrew and bearings were in a very poor state and after consulting with our customer, the decision was made to replace / repair everything that was causing an issue.
So we supplied and fitted a new 2x50A LT module and reg card, a new motor power cable, an overhaul/rebuild of the servo motor, an overhaul of the ballscrew and replacement bearings. The machine was fully setup and function tested, resulting in a very happy customer and a machine running back up to full capacity.
